Relationships between vegetative traits of plantlets at transplantation and yield in some horticultural crops

anglais. The test concerned three species: table tomato, melon and celery, which are raised preferably from nursery-grown plantlets. The reasons for this choice are something acquired in literature but the problems concerning the relationships between the characteristics of plantlets at transplantation and their subsequent are still open. The morpho-physiological traits can be well managed at the early growth stages by manipulating those paramenters, such as the temperature and the photoperiod, which mostly affect plantlet growth and development. By the multiple regression analysis, it is possible to correlate the quality of the product, i.e. plantlets for transplantation, with their yielding capacity in the field. The indices used are the number of leaves and the leaf area for melon and celery and the shoot dry matter as well, only for celery. In tomato, the heat and light conditioning delayed the apical transition and stimulated growth in the nursery. Growth was found to be negatively correlated with the early ripening of fruits and with productivity, so that the best results were obtained in the plants which had not been treated at the early growth stage

italien. Sono state prese in esame tre specie, pomodoro da mensa, melone e sedano, il cui impianto avviene, preferibilmente, con la messa a dimora di piantine allevate in vivaio. Le motivazioni di tale scelta sono ormai note in letteratura, ma restano le problematiche sulle relazioni tra caratteristiche delle piantine al trapianto e successiva produzione. Sulle caratteristiche morfo-fisiologiche molto si puo' fare nelle prime fasi di allevamento agendo su quei parametri che maggiormente incidono sull'accrescimento e sullo sviluppo delle piantine, quali la temperatura e il fotoperiodo. In questo lavoro si e' voluto approfondire lo studio sulle relazioni tra le caratteristiche delle piantine al trapianto e la produzione di queste. Attraverso l'analisi della regressione multipla sembra possibile mettere in relazione la "qualita' del prodotto, piantine da trapianto" con la capacita' produttiva in campo. Per melone e sedano possono essere considerati indici il numero di foglie e la superficie fogliare e, limitatamente al sedano, anche la sostanza secca epigea. Nel pomodoro il termo-foto-condizionamento ha ritardato la transizione dell'apice e stimolato l'accrescimento in vivaio. Poiche' quest'ultimo e' apparso negativamente correlato con l'anticipo di maturazione dei frutti e la produttivita', i risultati piu' validi sono apparsi quelli ottenuti con piante non sottoposte ad alcun condizionamento nella prima fase di crescita
