In October 1990 the Dept. of Agricultural Economics under the auspices of the USAID/MFAD project took a leadership in designing and conducting a baseline economics survey with the overall objective of gaining a thorough understanding of the constraints of traditional farming systems which may prevent technologies in Uganda. The study used data from nation-wide survey of 394 respondent farmers randomly selected in the districts of Iganga, Mbale, Mubende, Mpigi, Luwero, Masindi, Kabale, Apac and Lira. A pretested set of questionnaire was used to collect data and relevant policy information
