anglais. An experiment to study the relationship between root quality and the viability of oil palm clones was conducted in pre-nursery. Root quality influences plant height, leaf number, leaf area and clone viability, but does not significantly affect trunk diameter and chlorophyll number. Clones type affected significantly the plant height, and interaction of root quality and clones significantly influence the leaf number, but does not influence the plant height, leaf area, trunk diameter and chlorophyll number

Mutu akar berpengaruh terhadap tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, luas daun dan persentase hidup klon, tetapi tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap diameter batang dan jumlah klorofil. Sedangkan jenis klon hanya berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman dan interaksi kedua faktor memberikan pengaruh nyata terhadap jumlah daun tetapi tidak memberikan pengaruh yang nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman, luas daun, diameter batang dan jumlah klorofil
