The worldwide importance of root-knot menatodes is recognised by the establishment of an International "Meloidogyne Project". CARDI is a collaborator in this project for the Caribbean Region, the objective of which is to identify sources of resistant gemplasm so that effective crop rotation programmes can be designed and resistant or tolerant crop cultivars developed for the Caribbean Region.
