[Evaluation of the chisel plough in a compacted soil in maize cultivation]
1995
Mogollon, Y. | Mora, O.
The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of chisel plough on some physical properties of a compacted soil (Typic Calciustolls) and the requirements of nitrogen fertilizers. Two trials were established during the years 1992 and 1993 with the Ceniap PB-8 hybrid. A split plot design was used with big-rome and chisel plough as main plot and rate of 0, 50, 100 and 150 kg/ha of nitrogen as sub-plots. Soil physical analyses were done and also were evaluated the percentage of root distribution and yields. The tillage affected some soil physical characteristics. The better root distribution was observed with the chisel plough. The effect of the treatments on yields was not significant in 1992 but highly significant in 1993 for the chisel plough. The effect of nitrogen was not significant in both years.
