Polymorphism of selected isoenzymes in evaluation of identity and homogeneity of chickpea and vetchling genotypes

Polymorphism of ADH (alcohol dehydrogenase), MDH (malate dehydrogenase), PGD (6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase), and PGM (phosphoglucomutase) by horizontal electrophoresis on starch gel in chickpea (Cicer arietinum) and vetchling (Lathyrus sativus) were studied. Ten chickpea and ten vetchling genotypes were analyzed. Four phenotypical expressions of ADH and MDH polymorphism, ten PGD phenotypes and two for PGM were found in analyses. The results confirm that genotypes of chickpea have higher homogeneity and lower phenotypical variability than those of vetchling. Both species were easily discernible on the basis of polymorphism of any kind of the analyzed enzymes. The most frequent phenotypical expressions of polymorphism in chickpea were ADH-B (0.77), MDH-A (0.60), PGD-A (1.00), and PGM-A (1.00), and in vetchling ADH-D (0.71), MDH-C (0.86), PGD-B (0.47), and PGM-B (1.00).
