There were 8,853 libraries in the Czech Republic in 1995, seven of which were directly focused on agriculture. Detailed characteristics of all libraries in the Czech Republic and of the seven agricultural libraries are provided in two tables. Library computerization was launched in 1987 with UNESCO's system CDS/ISIS. Currently, the Israeli system ALEPH and the English system TINLIB are being used most often besides some domestic ones. ALEPH became the frame for the Czech and Slovak Library Information Network (CASLIN).CALIN is the proposed Czech Agricultural Library Information Network, but it has yet to be realised. Access to the INTERNET in library areas has been available in the Czech Republic since 1992. Obviously, all five of these Round tables have positively influenced the agricultural libraries activities.
