Proximate composition was determined in lentil (Lens culinaris Medik.) seed with hulls, seed without hulls, bran and pod husks from lentil seed principal components. The lentil seed principal components have high protein (above 13 percent), low fat (less than 2 percent), and are a relatively good source of dry matter, nitrogen free extract and calorific value. They are an excellent source of energy (calorific value) though poor in fat and crude fiber. The seed without its hull is rich in ash (or total mineral matter); the other principal components are poor in ash. The protein value of the lentil seed principal components indicated that 79?167 g of the different samples would meet the requirement for straight-run or all-purpose broiler mash for chickens intended for meat
