A survey of data on prevalence of bovine taeniasis-cysticercosis in the Czech Republic in 1989-1998 is presented and factors participating in high infection rates in some areas are analysed. Efficacy of current measures and a plan of control measures are evaluated. Prevalence ranged between 0.7 and 1.3 % during the observation period. Eighteen positive cases (33.3 %) were diagnosed in a group of 54 heifers cows and bulls slaughtered in April 1998 in the most severely effected area. Cysticerci were found mostly in myocardium and less frequently in masseteric muscles. No case of human cysticercosis was recorded by public health services in farm personnel in the affected area during the past 5 years.
