The aim of the present study is focused on the identification and determination of isoflavones and lignans in dyer's broom (Genista tinctoria) and Scotch broom (Sarothamnus scoparius). In general, both plants are rich sources of phytoestrogens, the total content of which was 0.007% (w/w) relative to dry weight. The measured plant levels of total genistein, daidzein, formononetin, biochanin A (isoflavones), secoisolariciresinol (SECO), anhydrosecoisolariciresinol (ANHSECO) and matairesinol (lignans) are listed.
