Svoboda, A. (Vyzkumny Ustav Ovocnarsky, Holovousy (Czech Republic))
Chemical products for reduction of excessive fruit set were tested in apricot-trees of cv. Lejuna in 1995-1998. The efficacy of products Cultar, Rhodofix, Flordimex and urea was not sufficiently high for the purposes of blossom or fruit thinning, the results of evaluation were not homogeneous. None of the methods of chemical treatment had any significant effects on an increase in fruit cross-section diameter, even though partial changes in the size were observed after applications of some product combinations. Applications of Cultar product at a concentration of 0.12 % of the final product in the stage of full blossom were relatively most efficient. Rhodofix at a concentration of 3 kg/ha applied at the stage of petal shedding brought about positive reactions. The results indicate that the date of application will be crucial for achievement of acceptable results, it will be within the first week after blossoming has terminated.
