Possibility for protection of pea plants (Pisum sativum L.) by biological activity of natural and synthetic preparations

Fungistatic activity of water extracts from 13 plant species was studied in vivo and compered with the effectiveness of two antibiotics and three fungicides. The activity of preparations was evaluated on predisinfected with 75 ethanol and on non-disinfected seeds, with the use of filter paper test. The evaluation was performed by counting the seeds infected with bacteria and fungi Ascochyta sp. and Fusarium spp. were taken under consideration. It was found that general infection of the control combination caused by bacteria and fungi accounted for 62.7, 54, and 24.7 respectively. Preliminary disinfection of seeds with ethanol caused the increase of general infection and fungal diseases, while bacteria infection decreased. General infection of non-disinfected seeds was limited by most of the preparations, a formulation NZ-3, extract from wild strawberry and nettle root was particulary effective.
