In field experiments conducted in 1991-95 residues of lenacil in soil were analysed after 1 month from herbicide treatment in sugar beets. Plants were cultivated at two kinds of fertilization, i.e.: manure 30 t/ha and manure 30 t/ha plus mineral fertilizers which were as follows: 140 kg/ha of nitrogen, 120 kg/ha of phosphorus, 160 kg/ha of potasium and 4 kg/ha of boron. Results obtained showed less amounts of herbicide residues in soil with organic fertilization in comparison with organic and mineral. These differences were observed especially in the end of experiment. It means that suitable fertilization which positively influence soil microbiological activity enhance its ability to degradation of herbicides
