1996
Neering, K.E. (International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics, Andhra Pradesh (India))
Management options for pests and diseases of groundnut, developed at ICRISAT, which may be useful for Indonesia include: use of pheromone to monitor leafminer, possibilities for the use of the pheromone for mating disruption are under study; varietal resistance for leafhoppers, thrips and aphids; bud necrosis management through thrips resistance, enhancing biocontrol of Spodoptera litura and Helicoverpa armigera, which may be applicable also to soybean production; a weather based fungicide application scheme for leafspot disease; cultural methods for Sclerotium rolfsii management; international cooperation on bacterial wilt management. Indonesia could help ICRISAT in getting a better understanding of the pests and diseases of groundnut which are not found in India such as witches' broom. As the entomology unit of ICRISAT will pay more attention on white grub management, cooperation with Indonesia is looked for inventory of species and for the development of management strategies
