Kamenicka, A. (Slovak Academy of Sciences, Vieska nad Zitavou (Slovak Republic). Inst. of Forest Ecology)
The object of this research was to study the effect of selected carbohydrates (arbinose, cellulose, fructose, galactose, glucose, lactose, mannose, rhannose, ribose, sorbose, sucrose and Xylose) on rooting microcuttings of saurcer magnolia. Fructose, mannose and xylose were the most effective carbon source on shoot proliferation followed by sucrose. The rooting response was induced by cellulose and xylose. Arbinose, rhamnose and sorbose inhibited shoot was stimulated by cellulose and xylose. Total biomass (shoot and roots) of the plantlets was the highest at fructose and cellulose
