Effect of torrent longitudinal slope on the degree of bed resistance
1999
Jakubis, M. (Technicka Univ., Zvolen (Slovak Republic). Lesnicka Fakulta)
The effect of torrent longitudinal slope on the degree of bed resistance was studied. The degree of bed resistance of the separate sections of torrents is expressed by the value of the coefficient of quasiuniform flow Mkp which is in very good agreement with the degree of bed resistance of the separate experimental sections of torrents determined by visual evaluation in the field conditions, which was confirmed by present research on 269 experimental sections in 63 torrents in 7 geomorphologic formations of the Slovak Republic. Regression analysis indicated very close correlations between the measured longitudinal slope of torrent and the degree of bed resistance while correlation index for the equation y=a0 +a1.x/l (first order hyperbola) is Iyx=0.940.
