Relationship between some chosen growth characteristics and yield of very early potato varieties

Small-plot field trials were conducted in two production regions with two N levels (60 and 120 kg.ha/l) with four very early potato varieties. Characteristics of potato production performance: rate of photosynthesis (PN), growth of hill dry matter, growth of leaf area and some other values obtained by the method of growth analysis were investigated. Weather conditions in the years were the most important of modification components and N fertilization was less important. Relationship of PN to the unit of leaf area is dependent on the quality of leaf area expressed by relative leaf area ratio and specific leaf area.
