Estimation of selected cultivars of lettuce (Lactuca sativa) as a forecrop in greenhouse culture

The subject of research was the estimation of selected genotypes of lettuce as a forecrop culture as well as some initial material in breeding. The experiments were carried on in four cycles of cultivation in a greenhouse. It has been assumed that the crops should be collected by the end of April. The estimation of weight of heads, number of leaves and length and width of external leaves has been done. The cultivar Charlene, with its too compact head as well as cultivars Sonata and Syrena have distinguished due to their yield. Sonata and Syrena, however. with their large external leaves are more troublesome when collected, packed and dispatched. Putting together advantageous features of the three genotypes would give a possibility to get a cultivar especially useful for production in above suggested terms.
