Growth and yields of rye (Dankowskie Zlote cultivar) grown in the fields of the Experimental Station Pawlowice and fertilized with various NPK rates were studied in 1992-95. On average, the highest grain yield (5.04 t/ha) for the entire 3-year period of study was obtained with the rates of 50 kg N + 45 kg P2O5 + 60 kg K2O/ha. High grain yield resulted from the highest number of ears per square m, grains per ear and high weight of 1000 grains. The lowest rye yields were obtained in the field, where the only fertilizer was K2O (2.78 t/ha). The efficiency of some fertilizer rates was high at the N rate of 25 kg/ha and unchanging K and P rates. An increase in N rate to 50 kg/ha increased the yield, but markedly decreased the efficiency of 1 kg N per kg grain. The efficiency of mineral fertilizer at the remaining rates was unsatisfactionary
