Spatial moisture content distribution in water repellent peat-moorsh soil

Effect of water repellency on spatial moisture content distribution in peat-moorshy soil was studied on soil profile at Biebrza river valley. Variability of moisture content and dry bulk density were investigated in transsects by intensive sampling. Soil persistence and water repellency were examined by water drop penetration time and alcohol concentration tests. The water repellency appeared to be dependent on soil moisture content, while the distribution of soil moisture content was strongly irregular; this last phenomenon was in turn caused by soil water repellency
