Simplified procedure to compute the thickness of additional thermal insulation in piggery buildings assuming their self-heating

On the basis of available tables describing the difference between amounts of heat emitted by a pig and that thrown out by ventilation air, two formulas were derived which define the thickness of additional thermal insulation of piggery room in case when it is too chilly inside. First formula was developed from the transformation of heat balance equation. The second formula is an approximation of the first one; it includes the coefficients characteristic for given technological group of pigs, assumed temperature rise, ambient temperature and some quantities describing features of building and weihgt of pigs
