Veliki Brsljanovec is the only representative of forest reserves in the area of high Karst plateaus of Hrusica, Nanos, and Zagora. It was established in 1979, for a purpose of studying natural sites, and forest associations with their successive development. The article deals with first detailed analysis of the reserve. It indicates the state of the reserve in 1998 on the basis of complete data available from previous years. Ecological conditions of forest reserve natural sites were investigated, as well as development of forest structure in the time after WW II, furthermore, the analysis of forest regeneration was made. Finally, some objects of forest reserve cultural heritage are also presented here.
