Evaluation of some carcass and meat quality traits of broilers receiving aqueous herb extracts for drinking

The experiment was carried out on Starbro chickens divided randomly into 5 groups, each in 4 replications comprising 45 birds. Reared period was performed during 51 days. All chickens were fed semi ad libitum with the same mixtures: starter, grower and finisher. Group 1 was treated as control. Chickens from groups 2-5 received for drinking aqueous herb extracts made from milfoil, melissa, St. John's wort or nettle in amount which corresponded to the supplement of 1.5 percent of air-dry herbs into mixtures. On the 51st day of experiment, 30 birds were chosen for further examinations. During dissection the dressing percentage and the share of breast muscles, liver, gizzard, heart and abdominal fat in empty body were estimated as well the weight and length of some parts of intestinal tract were measured
