Vegetational and environmental studies on a landfill restoration of a domestic waste dump site

The results of observations carried out over five years (1992-1996) on some experimental planting with herbaceous, shrubby and arboreal species on a land fill restoration of a domestic waste dump site at the end of the cultivation are presented. The analyses have shown the importance of the species choice in order to help setting and development of a herbaceous turf made up of phytocenoses with a good degree of stability: With regard to the experimental planting of trees and shrubs, some species have provided the best results as percentages of taking root and as general conditions of the plants, evaluated by the recorded growth increases. Besides, it has been observed that the temperatures in different depths in the ground are influenced both by the occurrence of waste and by morphological features of the final covering layer

Sono riportati i risultati delle osservazioni svolte nell'arco del quinquennio 1992-96 su alcuni impianti con specie erbacee, arboree ed arbustive eseguiti a scopo sperimentale sul corpo di una discarica di RSU in fase di post-chiusura. Le analisi hanno evidenziato l'importanza delle scelte delle specie erbacee per favorire l'insediamento e lo sviluppo di un cotico erboso caratterizzato da fitocenosi con un buon grado di stabilita'. In merito all'impiego di specie arboree ed arbustive, l'orniello, il biancospino, il cipresso, la roverella e il piracanta hanno fornito i risultati migliori sia come percentuali di attecchimento, sia come condizioni generali delle piante, valutate attraverso gli incrementi registrati. E' stato osservato inoltre che le temperature a diverse profondita' nel terreno sono influenzate sia dalla presenza del rifiuto, sia dalla morfologia e dalle caratteristiche fisiche dello strato di colmatazione
