[A comparative study on tongue taste buds in different teleost species]

anglais. A research about the tongue taste buds of numerous teleost species was carried out to investigate their number, distribution, structure and probable functional engagement. The present observations have pointed out that their presence is detectable in 13 out of 16 species studied, but this finding varies greatly according to the species. Moreover, also their number varies greatly, while the structure is typical. On the basis of our investigations, it can be reasonably asserted that the teleost tongue is not generally the elective site of taste. Besides, it can be probably hypothesized that in these vertebrates the tongue taste buds, according to other AA, are employed to carry out other sense information in addition to the gustative function

La ricerca si propone di esaminare i calici gustativi presenti nella lingua di numerose specie di teleostei per determinarne il numero, la distribuzione e il probabile impegno funzionale. Le osservazioni hanno rilevato la presenza dei summenzionati chemorecettori in 13 delle 16 specie esaminate, ma il reperto, nelle specie in cui il dato e' positivo, e' estremamente variabile dal punto di vista intra- ed interspecifico. In base alle indagini eseguite e' ragionevole affermare che, generalmente, il distretto linguale dei teleostei non costituisce la sede elettiva dei calici gustativi. Inoltre, e' possibile ipotizzare, in accordo con altri AA, che in questi vertebrati i chemiorecettori in esame siano impegnati, oltre che nella funzione gustativa, anche nella captazione di altre informazioni sensitive
