Effect of fertilization on fruit yield and incidence of blossom and rot in some sweet pepper cultivars grown on rock wool

The research investigated the effect of four fertilization rates on the yield of fruit and on the incidence of blossom end rot in sweet pepper cultivars grown on rock wool. The highest yields were obtained for the second and thied rates of fertilization where nitrogen content amounted to 105 and 140 mg per/cubic cm of nutrient solution and the ratio of N : P : K : Mg = 1 : 0.5 : 2 : 0.4, while the nutrient solution concentration - 2-2.4 EC. The higher the rate of fertilization and EC in nutrient solution, the higher the yield of fruit with blossom end rot. There were found differences in susceptibility to blossom end rot across cultivars; most resistant cultivars were respesented by "Rubino", "Meteor", "Cuzco", "Nairobi", "Wilanko" and "Marvello". However the highest marketable yield was recorded for "Cuzco", "Meteor", "Spartacus", "Wilanko" and "Marvello"
