Phenomenon of physiological aging of woody plants as a factor of cutting propagation

From the agricultural point of view very imortant characteristic of woody plants is their aging. Physiological status of stoolbed plants is the most important factor in cutting propagation. The reaction of a plant is changing due the physiological aging. This reaction is characterized at the cuttings through several parameters: rooting, callus formation, number of main roots, growth of cuttings and survival of rooted cuttings. These parameters are optimal only at young (juvenile) cuttings. Therefore, the juvenile cutting material is necessary for the successful cutting propagation. The best rejuvenation can be achieved due the in vitro propagation.
