Economic and market forecast for sheep and goat production in Poland

Economic and market forecasts as well as prospects for the development of sheep and goat production in Poland are analysed based on the results of the author's own studies and Polish and foreign literature. Factors and characteristics necessary for sheep production operations are given. Index-based evaluation of farm resources is suggested as one of the criterions of the financial support of sheep farming. Factors decreasing lamb fattening costs were graded, with production of farm-made feeds being ranked top. Current profitability of lammb fattening for the Polish market and for export was analysed. The parity scale of production on family farms was determined, and the demand for sheep products was forecasted
