Yield of several asparagus cultivars in the years 1990-99

The yields of asparagus cultivars Franklim, Huchel's Leistungsauslese, Gynlim, Schwetzinger Meisterschuss and Vulkan were evaluated during a 10-year's harvest period (1990-99). The highest yield of green spears was obtained from Gynlim. The highest yields were obtained between the third and sixth years of harvest. Decrease of yields with the aging of plantation resulted form decreasing the mean spear weight but not the number of spear. The decrease of yield and spear quality from the seventh year of harvest was much greater for Franklim and Huchel's L. than for the other cultivars
