Content of some mineral constituents in sweet pepper fruits

In 1997 and 1998 sweet peppers were grown in an unheated polyethylene tunnel and the content of certain mineral constituents in the fruits was determined. The fruits were harvested in the third decade of August and the following elements were determined: Cu, Mn, Zn, Mg, Fe and Ca. Atomic absorption flame spectrometry was used. The highest content of Mg was found in 1997 in cv. Bryza (132.56 mg/kg), and cv. Zefir (116.62 mg/kg). The highest Ca content occurred in cv. Buran (108.56 mg/kg). Cv. Kujawianka had the highest Cu content(2.25 mg/kg). The mean contents in 1998 were lower than those in 1997. The highest Mn content was found in fruits of cv. Monsun in both years (1.33 and 1.13 mg/kg) and cv. Zefir in 1997. Zn content was highest in cv. Bryza (3.53 mg/kg) and cv. Zefir (2.82 mg/kg) and most Fe was accumulated in cv. Sono (6.21 mg/kg) and Bryza (5.35 mg/kg) grown in 1997
