The effect of direct plant covering applied against cabbage fly invasion on the chemical composition of storage roots of Japanese radish cv. Minowase Summer Cross F1 was investigated. Radish was grown in summer in the open field (control and chemical treatment) and under three kinds of covers (polyethylene net, nowoven polypropylen, and polyester net). The differences in dry weight and the content of protein, fibre, soluble sugar, ascorbic acid, and thiocyanate as depending on the above growing methods were discussed
