The effects of hormone (Betoxon) treatment on the yield and fruit quality of 5 pepino forms from New Zealand was examined. Plants were grown on rockwool in 2 glasshouse compartments. Plant density was 2.5 plant per square m with two stems per plant. In one compartment, pepino flowers were treated twice a week with Betoxon at 50 ppm on sunny days and at 25 ppm on cloudy days. In most pepino forms Betoxon increased the yield and fruit weight. Also, depending on the pepino form, it increased dry matter, ascorbic acid and minerals. All pepino forms flowered and fruited best on first trusses. There was a difference between pepino forms in the number of flowers and the number setting fruits and in the weight of fruits, which was independent of the hormone treatment
