An economic assessment of the use of enrofloxacin to treat colibacillosis in broilers

The aim of this work is to present the first results of a survey conducted among two producer organizations of Western France to assess the economic interest, for a poultry producer, to use fluoroquinolones in the treatment of avian colibacillosis. This presentation deals more specifically with the identification of the main factors likely to influence the use of enrofloxacin in broiler production. After having briefly presented the data collected, this paper describes the conditions for use of enrofloxacin at the farm level. A logit model was then estimated to determine the key factors influencing the use of this antimicrobial.
