The aim of the study was to analyze the changes in the number of business entities operating in the environmental protection and the identification of the entities to protect the environment, characterized by the highest pace of change in Lower Silesia in Poland. Additionally rated changes in the public and private sectors. The time range study covered the period 2009–2015. Visible improvement of the equipment in business entities was observed, which deal with environmental protection and improve its condition in Lower Silesia and Poland. Detailed analysis of the entities in departments under study in the section E related to water supply, sewage and waste management and remediation activities helped determine the types of activities that in the analyzed period showed the biggest changes. Lower Silesia in Poland and across all divisions saw an increase in the number of entities involved in environmental protection. The largest increase in Lower Silesia and Poland were recorded in the case of entities engaged in rehabilitation and other service activities related to waste management.
