The creation and elaboration of harmless programs for the integrated protection of vineyards against diseases and pests with a minimum application of polluting chemicals for the environment, is one of the main objectives for the development of sustainable viticulture. The control of the main diseases (mildew, powdery mildew, gray rot) in the current conditions is a particularly important issue, because (as a result of climate change in recent decades) the virulence of phytopathogens has also increased, which is constantly evolving (change) depending on biotic (genetic, anthropogenic) and abiotic (temperature, humidity etc.) factors. In parallel with these changes, programs to combat these dangerous diseases also need to be improved. Experiments on testing and determining the biological efficacy and dosage of use of new biological products (plant extracts, plant metabolites), harmless to the environment, have been initiated within the Laboratory of Immunology and Protection of the vine. The aim of these studies is to research and introduce into the current protection systems new biological substances with low environmental toxicity, satisfactory control efficacy and new qualities of the mechanism of action on pathogens.
