The production of biodegradable packaging materials obtained from agro industrial waste represents a modern field of research in world science. From an economic and ecological point of view, materials obtained from the by-products of agro-industry – cake, meal, pulp, flour, straw, etc. are particularly interesting. By pressing the seeds of the plum stone, it is possible to obtaine edible highly nutritional oil. The cake, left behind, could be valorised by the production of new biopolymer films, which can be used for food packaging. In this paper, the antioxidant activity of biopolymer films based on plum cake, obtained by different process parameters, was examined in order to examine their potential as food packaging.
