U osnovne preduvjete za uspješnu proizvodnju šećerne repe ubrajamo prirodne čimbenike (klimu i tlo) i tehnološke čimbenike (izbor parcele, plodored i predusjev, obradu tla, gnojidbu, zaštitu i njegu). Na tehnologiju u proizvodnji izravan utjecaj ima proizvođač. Šećerna repa je po načinu uzgoja najintenzivnija ratarska kultura. U proizvodnji šećerne repe neophodno je kvalitetno i na vrijeme izvršiti svaku tehnološku operaciju, jer u protivnom pogreške u proizvodnji rezultiraju smanjenjem prinosa i kvalitete šećerne repe. U cilju povećanja prinosa i kvalitete šećerne repe u šećerani VIRO iz Virovitice na terenu radi 12 agronoma u sirovinskoj službi. Oni kontinuirano prate proizvodnju, uvode nove tehnologije te savjetuju proizvođače.

Basic preconditions for a successful production of sugar- beet count in natural factors (climate, soil) and technological factors (choosing a lot, crop rotation and pre-sowing, cultivating land, fertilization, control and cultivation). A producer has a direct influence on technology in crop production. Sugar- beet is the most intensive field crop by cultivation mode. In the production of sugar- beet it is necessary to perform every technological operation on time and in terms of quality, because otherwise, the mistakes in production result in crop failure and unsatisfying quality of sugar- beet. For the purpose of increasing crop and quality of sugar- beet by continuous production monitoring, introducing new technologies and producers’ advice, twelve agricultural agents from raw-materials service in VIRO sugar refinery work on the field.
