Given the importance that the banking sector has in each country, the analysis of the banking sector by different statistical and mathematical methods is a very common occurrence. The paper analyzes the operations of banks in the Republic of Serbia in 2018 with standard instruments of descriptive statistics, and using the DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) method, the efficiency of individual banks is examined. The following indicators of individual banks were analyzed: total assets, total capital, number of employees, net operating income and net profit. Based on the results of research by 26 banks, it was noticed that only 10 banks in the Republic of Serbia operate efficiently. The results of the analysis, in this case, indicate banks that operate efficiently, as well as those that operate less efficiently in the existing business conditions, which may be useful for making business decisions in the coming period.
