Drop-size distribution for crosscurrent breakup of liquid jets in airstreams

Drop-size-distribution data were obtained for liquid jets atomized by cross-stream injection from simple orifices into high-velocity air-streams. A high-speed camera and a sampling technique were combined to obtain data over ranges of injector, liquid, and airstream variables. The volume-median drop diameter D₃₀ was calculated using the Rosin-Rammler, the log-probability, and the Nukiyama-Tanasawa distribution expressions.
