Extract: The purpose of this paper is to evaluate fertilizer purchasing in Georgia. Methodology is developed which enables a producer, given a choice of purchasing different grades, to determine the least expensive fertilizer on a nutrient basis. An examination of fertilizer purchases is made using a representative data base collected from a national firm operating several fertilizer supply stores in the state. Included in this examination is an evaluation of the relative frequency of purchases of each grade and the cost to farmers.
