This work has been issued to supply a growing demand for the plates in a more convenient form, illustrating the author's The birds of Minnesota published in two volumes in 1932. With a single exception the paintings are the same as in the former work but the text accompanying the plates is largely new and only here and there has the matter in the Minnesots bird book been issued directly. cf. Introd.
