Combination of chromosome breaks during formation of complex rearrangements in Drosophila sperms

A collection of rearrangements in the right and left arms of autosome 2 in Drosophila, induced in ripe sperm by gamma-irradiation, is obtained using the "nondisjunction test." The frequencies of appearance of the rearrangement configurations observed for 4-break rearrangements indicate that only spatially close breaks can reunite. The configurations observed for 3-break rearrangements attest in favor of the classical hypothesis concerning the formation of chromosomal aberrations and do not agree with the exchange hypothesis.
