The objective of the present study was to investigate the effect of vibration on storage quality and ethylene biosynthesis-related enzyme genes expression in harvested apple fruit stored at 4 ± 1 ℃ and 20 ± 2 ℃. Ethylene production, respiratory rate, firmness, soluble solid content, electrical conductivity, MDA content, expression of ethylene biosynthesis-related enzyme genes of apples fruit were examined. The results showed that vibration observably resulted in the increase of ethylene production, respiratory rate, electrical conductivity, MDA content and expression of MdACS1, MdACO1, MdETR1 and MdCTR1 of apple fruit in comparison with the untreated samples. Besides, treatment of vibration significantly declined firmness and soluble solid content in harvested apple fruit compared to the control group. In conclusion, our present results indicated that mechanical damage during truck transportation caused serious injure to apple fruit, which shortened shelf life and reduced the commercial quality of apple fruit.
