Impact of integrated nutrient management on the Vegeta-Tive and flowering behaviour of bottle gourd [Lagenaria Siceraria (Mol.) Standl.]

A field experiment was conducted on effect of integrated nutrient management on the vegetative and flowering behavior of bottle gourd during spring season of 2015 at the Horticultural Research Farm, Department of Horticulture, Chaudhary Charan Singh University Campus, Meerut (U.P). The experimental field was laid out in randomized block design (RBD) with three replications. The experiment comprised of eight treatments consisting of different organic and inorganic fertilizers. All variables parameters regarding vegetative and flowering behaviour were significantly influenced by integrated nutrient management practices. Result indicate that combined application of inorganic and organic fertilizers i.e. RDF 60% (48N: 36P: 30K kg/ha) + Vermicompost @ 3 tonnes/hectare gave the significantly best results. Maximum vine length (252.12 cm), number of leaves per vine (41.84), number of branches per vine (8.54), number of nodes per vine (24.95), inter-node length (10.10 cm), number of male flower per vine (19.32) and number of female flower per vine (21.40) were recorded with the soil application of RDF 60% + Vermicompost @ 3 tonnes/hectare while, minimum days taken to first male flower (36.65) and female flower (39.26) initiation was observed under RDF 60% + FYM @ 10 tonnes/ha.
