Association of socio-economic characteristics of mothbean growers with adoption of its production technology

The study was conducted with 316 respondents during Kharif 2008 in Bikaner and Churu districts of Rajasthan, India to find out association of socio-economic variables with extent of adoption of mothbean production technology. Results indicated that more than half of the respondents were in medium age group with medium level of land holding, social participation, farm assets and achievement motivation whereas about half of the respondents were literate up to middle standard with medium credit behaviour and economic motivation. About twothird of respondents were classified under medium category so far as level of risk orientation, progressiveness, source of information utilized and extension participation were concerned. It was observed that out of 15 socio-economic variables, 13 were significantly associated (>85%) with the adoption of mothbean production technology. These variables were related to socio-economic characteristics of respondents including age, education, size of land holding, social participation, farm assets, achievement motivation, risk orientation, training received, extension participation, progressiveness, source of information utilized, socio-economic status and knowledge level of mothbean growers.
