24 beta-Ethylcholest-4-en-3 beta-ol from the roots of Lawsonia inermis

A new sterol, namely lawsaritol, has been isolated from the roots of Lawsonia inermis. Its structure has been elucidated as 24 beta-ethylcholest-4-en-3 beta-ol on the basis of spectral analysis and chemical reactions.
