The total content of vitamin D in human milk and cow's milk

Analyses of cows milk and human milk for vitamin D content have varied considerably; thus the biological activity of water-soluble vitamin D in the 2 types of milk were investigated by taking x-rays of the proximal ends of the tibia of 8-10 rats per treatment dose. The water-soluble fractions of the milks did not show significant antirachitic activity in rats, and the values were much lower than those determined by chemical analysis of sterol sulphate content.
