The objective of this study was to compare whole corn vs ground-pelleted corn and ground-pelleted corn vs dry corn gluten feed (CGF) as sources of supplemental energy for steers grazing tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea). Forage OM intakes by grazing steers were not decreased by either corn or CGF supplements and resulted in increased (P<.05) total OM intakes. Forage OM digestibility was decreased (P<.Ol) with corn supplement but not CGF supplement. Starch digestibility was greater (P<.Ol) when ground and pelleted corn was fed compared with whole corn (92 vs 67%). Supplementation decreased grazing time (P<.Ol).
