Synthesis of symmetrical or asymmetrical urea compounds from CO₂via base catalysis

Using Cs⁺ base catalysts and N-methylpyrrolidone as the solvent, both symmetrical and asymmetrical urea derivatives are prepared in good yields directly from CO₂ and amines, in the absence of any dehydrating agents.
