Gorgoderina vitelliloba, cercarial emergence in absence of environmental stimuli is rhythmic from intact molluscan hosts (Pisidium personatum) but is arhythmic from sporocysts on isolated gill lamellae maintained in vitro, emergence from latter becomes rhythmic under influence of regular diurnal temperature fluctuations, concluded that natural rhythms of cercarial emergence are controlled by stimuli originating in both host and outside environment but not in sporocyst
